Benee at Scoot Inn in Austin, TX

At the Historic Scoot Inn, indie-pop singer/songwriter Benee brought her groovy dance hits to Austin’s friends and fans this week.

While on her 2026 Particles Tour, Benee made a stop in Austin, TX. Scoot Inn is an iconic Austin venue, established in 1871. It’s one of their oldest standing bars. The charming outdoor space made for an excellent host for the artist. Benee is from New Zealand and has been making music since 2017, previously under the name “Bene.” In 2019, she gained popularity after her single, “Supalonely” featuring Gus Dapperton, went viral on TikTok. On this tour, Benee is promoting her new album, Ur an Angel I’m Just Particles. The album was released last November. It touches on themes such as science and how her understanding of it connects her to the spiritual world.

Opening for Benee is pop singer Bayli. Bayli is an American singer from Brooklyn. Originally, Bayli was a part of the band The Skins. During her time with them, they released several singles and an EP. As a solo artist, Bayli has released many singles and released her debut album NO RE-ENTRY, which was released in November. Over the past few years, she has opened for artists such as Magdalena Bay and Slayyyter.

The short-lived 30-minute set wasn’t a let-down. Bayli kept it lively with originals such as “Passenger Princess” and “Gospel.” Before, “Passenger Princess,” she passed a tiara to a fan in the front row. Fans of Frank Ocean were pleasantly surprised when the intro of “Super Rich Kids” began, and she performed a cover of the song.

Benee’s Particles Tour is coming to an end, as this is one of her final shows before closing her tour in Los Angeles. At 8 PM, she started her set with “Sad Boiii” from her new album. After she performed “Soaked” from her 2019 EP Fire on Marzz, Benee introduced her band, and her drummer and guitarist riffed the introduction of Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit.” She also performed other tracks such as “Doomsday” and “Demons,” a song about being heartbroken over a rocky relationship. Mid-set, Benee took a second to talk to a few fans. One of them told her that they named their baby after her.

During an intermission between songs, Benee sang a snippet of one of her older songs, “Evil Spider,” when it was requested by a fan. Benee slowed things down by performing her track “Doesn’t Matter.” The singing fans could be heard well over the speakers of her and her band. As soon as the wind outside picked up, so did the energy. Benee closed her set with the dance pop bops, “Off The Rails” and “Green Honda.” Both of the songs caused the audience to go wild. At the end of the night, wiped-out fans moseyed their way out of Scoot Inn’s backyard to their rides home.
