The sold-out crowd in Emo’s were given an unforgettable and hilarious performance when bbno$ brought his It’s Pronounced Baby No Money Tour to Austin.
Canadian rapper and singer, bbno$, pronounced “baby no money,” made a stop at Austin’s Emo’s this week. The man behind the music is Alexander Gumuchian. He started producing and rapping in 2014, but it wasn’t until two years later that he uploaded his music to SoundCloud. He blew up after his 2017 collaboration with rapper Yung Gravy, Baby Gravy. His track “Lalala” was used in marketing for several large companies such as Tinder, TikTok, and Craigslist. In 2023, the song was certified triple platinum by the RIAA. Last year, in 2024, bbno$ released a few new singles, and in February he released his latest song “check.” So, it’s safe to assume a new album could be coming soon.
Before the show started, there on the big LED screen was a picture of a distorted face with a QR code. After hesitantly scanning the code, the link led to a website that allowed fans to enter a lottery for a chance to win bbno$ tickets for life. Next to the QR code stated, “Please for the love of God, DON’T SCAN THIS.”
Opening for bbno$ on this tour is artist Jungle Bobby. Jungle Bobby is another Canadian rapper. He made for a great opener for the night. Jungle Bobby released his debut album, Wibe World, in 2023 and has been releasing singles since.
At about 8:15 PM, Jungle Bobby started his set. He confidently hyped up the crowd and his style of music complimented bbno$’s perfectly. Historically, Jungle Bobby has worked very closely with bbno$ both in the studio and on tour. During his show, he played songs such as “What The Funk” and “Just a Feeling.” He also played a lot of new music which excited the crowd.
bbno$ came onto the stage at about 9 PM. Gumuchian came out with all guns blazing. From start to finish, the energy was at an all-time high. He opened his set with “it boy.” The entire show was filled with jokes and short comedy bits. While Gumuchian told the audience about his struggle with depression, his DJ played the viral “Meow Meow Meow Meow” sound that is sung to the tune of Billie Eilish’s “What Was I Made For.” Afterward, he performed a new song titled “Antidepressants” which is going to be released soon.Mid-set, bbno$ pulled an audience member onto the stage and she sang three songs with him. The fan absolutely crushed it, stealing the spotlight. He played more unreleased music before performing the fan favorite “Edamame.” As the night came to an end, he closed his set with “Lalala” and “Pogo.”
