Falling In Reverse brings their God is a Weapon Tour to a sold-out hometown crowd for the biggest show in town at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas.
There are many metal shows happening in Las Vegas tonight, but this one is clearly the most anticipated and attended. The line wraps around the entire casino before the doors even open. Sadly, that is rare for many shows, but the fans are out in force for hometown favorites Falling In Reverse. The Theater at Planet Hollywood Casino is one of the larger venues for these shows in Las Vegas, with a capacity of 7,000. Selling this out on a Friday night when there are three other large shows in town is amazing, and it speaks to these fans’ dedication to the band and the following they have developed over the years.
At 9 PM, the room goes dark, and the walk-out video begins to play. The crowd is on their feet and full of energy, which is impressive since this show started at 6:30 PM and many of these fans have been in line since before 5 PM. The band takes the stage and begins with “Prequel.” This song had Radke standing front and center, speaking into the microphone. As the song ends, the fire begins to light up the stage. They launch into “Zombified,” and the fire begins to shoot off in bursts, intermixed with light beams. The crowd is singing along, but, at times, they do not know where to focus, which is not a bad thing. There is a video playing and the visuals of the fire and lights make for an amazing performance. Radke and the rest of the band are mesmerizing to watch. Next song up is the title track for this tour, “God is a Weapon.” It is the highlight of the set, featuring friend of the band, Marilyn Manson, in a video accompanying the song. The imagery during this song is something not to be missed.
The crowd is not slowing down at all. It is getting warm in the theater with all the people and the pyrotechnics, but no one cares, and no one is sitting down. In fact, while this venue is a combination of general admission and seats, there are signs throughout the venue stating “standing is encouraged,” which is great. The set continues with songs like “Losing My Mind,” “The Drug in Me is You,” and “Popular Monster.” Falling In Reverse has an impressive catalog, so there are lots to choose from.
Another highlight for the crowd is when they perform “Bad Guy.” This song is basically Radke calling out and exaggerating many of the negative things people have said about him. The crowd loves it, and it is a strong message basically telling people not to listen to your haters out there.
It is a long set, 17 songs. The visuals do not slow down with the video and the pyrotechnics. This performance has been designed really well. The energy of the band and the excitement of the crowd doesn’t drop at all, which is exciting for the almost two-hour set. At the end, everyone walks out after having been treated to an amazing night of music.
The God is a Weapon Tour is wrapping up, but if there is a second leg announced, it should be on a must-attend list for fans of rock and metal music. It is a jam-packed night with high-energy performances.
