Iration and special guests ignite the Gallagher Stage at Petco Park for an evening of summer fun in San Diego.
One of the great things about Artikal Sound System shows is that they kick off any event with a bang, giving the crowd a reason to pay attention. This show was no exception. Logan Rex and the fellows of Artikal Sound System stepped out onto the stage and kicked off the evening just after the Tunnel Vision set. Rex commands the crowd’s attention, one of the best reasons to be sure to catch one of their shows live. Aside from the music, Rex’s commentary, keeping the crowd engaged, is legendary. The group played some of their hits, including “Changes,” as well as their newest hit, “Right Now,” which was released earlier this year, featuring Miles of Slightly Stoopid. Their set even included a No Doubt cover, “Just a Girl” – a classic rendition that had the crowd jumping.
Deeply rooted in the San Diego scene, Tribal Seeds is easily one of the crowd favorites of the lineup. Their smooth and enchanting sounds that really showcase their music quickly took over the ballpark and had everyone in the crowd singing along. Aside from the music taking over the stadium, the sun was quickly setting during their time on stage, and the stage graphics and lights rounded out an excellent performance. The band played many of their hits, but there were definitely crowd favorites such as “Moonlight” and “Gunsmoke.” Tribal Seeds ultimately set the stage for the headliner of the night with an excellent high-energy performance that left the San Diego fans ready for the final act. As the night went on, the crowd at Gallagher Square’s anticipation only grew for the final set of the night – Iration. Iration kicked off their Where It All Began Tour in early May of this year, and this stop at Petco Park was nearly at the end of this run. Based on the size of the crowd that filled the venue, the fans of San Diego were eager for the smooth island sound to take over. The lights lowered, and the band entered the stage through a perfectly timed cloud of smoke. As their silhouettes became visible to the crowd, the cheers from the crowd became the loudest sound in all of San Diego. The final set of the night began with “Already Gold” from their self-titled album, released in 2018; the perfect opener for their set, as it really showcases the sound and vibe that they are known and loved for.
Throughout the night, they played a memorable set with highlights from many of their albums, including “Shoyu,” one of their newest releases from their eleventh studio album. Iration completely captivated the crowd. The entire show felt like a highlight reel for so many longtime fans. Iration kicked off the summer in San Diego with a bang.
