Davy Knowles at Reggies in Chicago, IL

There are a few things in life that are certain – death, taxes, and the fact that Davy Knowles is going to blow you away with an amazing show!

The moment Davy Knowles announces an adopted-hometown show, friends, family, and fans alike flock. This is one of those shows where you will always see familiar faces, and, if you don’t know the person sitting next to you at the start of the show, you certainly will by the end of it!

Whenever Davy plays at Reggies, he seems to bring a random day of hot weather with him, making it feel like the height of summer, if just for one night. It’s as if the Chicago weather is also excited about the show, and why not?

No matter how many times you see Davy Knowles live (full disclosure – we’ve seen him a LOT!), he always manages to keep your eyes and ears glued to the stage. It’s as though the sheer amount of emotion and skill present up there has some kind of gravitational pull. His voice is wonderfully seasoned, and he can effortlessly switch from a smooth velvety timbre to a bluesy growl depending on what the song requires. He does this while also seamlessly executing some of the hookiest guitar riffs you’ll ever hear (just try getting that riff from “Around Here” out of your head the week after hearing it!). On top of all this, he remains incredibly humble. As he stepped off the stage from a show like the one we just witnessed, he asked, “Was it alright?”….. Yes, mate! It was more than alright!!

It’s a true testament to the skill level and draw of Knowles when the younger audience from the punk show next door come flooding through the doors after their show has finished, and can be heard saying, “who is that playing?” The next thing you know, the front of the stage is filled with a whole new crowd, experiencing Knowles for the first, but surely not the last time.

The setlist had everything you’ve come to expect from a Davy Knowles show, with everything from the foot-stomping and catchy “Riverbed” to the thought-provoking lyrics of “The Invisible Man.”

Davy is joined by Tod Bowers (bass) and Mike Hansen (drums). They have been playing together for quite some time now, and they are as tight as you can get. The smiles between the members showing they’re enjoying themselves on stage as much as the audience is seeing the performance. It really adds to the feeling that you’re in a room full of friends (some you know and some you just haven’t met yet).

Davy and the guys are heading over to the UK for their first tour there in a long time, so this is your chance to get your fix!
