Biffy Clyro at House of Blues in Chicago, IL

After postponing their North American tour due to visa errors, Biffy Clyro finally made it back Stateside, and it was totally worth the wait!

It was an early start for the show, and those who got through the doors in time for the opening band were in for a treat. When you hear there’s a band made up of two young musicians that you may not have heard of before, you know they have to be something special to have landed an opening spot for a headliner such as this.

Raue is a California-based duo made up of Paige Kalenian (vocals, guitar, keys, bass) and Jax Huckle (drums). To say this twosome packs a punch is an understatement! Jax has drum skills way beyond his years. The energy they both exude was incredible. Their sound is very heavily 90s-inspired alternative grunge. Within minutes of taking to the stage, they captivated the crowd that was growing by the minute.

Once they’ve completed this run, they will be heading out on their first headlining tour in May. Trust us, you want to check these guys out if they come to a venue near you. You will definitely be hearing more from them in the future.

Biffy Clyro were originally slated to bring their Futique Tour to North America in December last year. However, just days before it was about to start, Simon Neil took to social media to explain there had been an error with the dates on their visas, thus resulting in the tour being postponed. Luckily, the North American crowd didn’t have to wait too long before the error was rectified and the Scots made it Stateside, with the 12-date tour now in full swing. The last time they toured here was 2022, so what’s a few more months? Yes, we agree, too many, but they made it so that’s the good thing.

You always know you’re going to be in for a great show from Biffy Clyro, and yes, they never fail to impress. But when it’s been a while since you last saw them live, you still can’t help but be blown away by the raw energy they bring to the stage. This show was nothing short of outstanding, and one that will live in the memories of those present for quite some time.

This is the first time they have toured without James, but he wasn’t far from everyone’s minds as Simon mentioned their thoughts were with him back in Scotland. He also made a point of saying what a sterling job Naomi MacLeod was doing standing in for him.

This tour is in support of their recent album, Futique, so understandably, a large portion of the songs came from this release. However, they also made sure to give the Chicago crowd a good dose of the hits. And by a good dose, we mean at one point they did eight hits back-to-back, making bathroom breaks impossible because there was no way you could miss a second of it!
