Daughtry at The Edge Pavilion in Laughlin, NV

Daughtry brings the rock to the Edge Pavilion in Laughlin, Nevada, with a mix of his classic hits and new ones.

This is the rock show that the people of Laughlin have been waiting all summer for. Daughtry is set to perform. No openers, just him and his band. For that reason, the venue is almost sold out and people have arrived early, not wanting to miss any of it. At 7:00 PM, the room goes dark and the intro begins to play. The band starts out strong with “The Reckoning,” “The Day I Die,” and their amazing Journey cover of “Separate Ways.” The crowd is on their feet, and they are singing along to every word. Along with the music, which sounds incredible, the stage show is one of the bigger ones for this venue, with lasers and smoke cannons. The overall look matches the sound, and it just creates more excitement in the room.

Daughtry takes the time to talk to the audience and reflect on where it all began with “It’s Not Over.” While watching the show, it is easy to forget how long he and his band have been doing this. It is amazing to see the growth and how his sound has evolved over the decades, and that he still honors and respects his roots. One of the highlights of the performance comes next with Daughtry himself doing some solo acoustic songs. He calls it his audible, and he tells the crowd he is going to start a few different songs, and whichever gets the best reaction is the one he will play. This is a nice change. It allows for the fans to hear their favorite song and changes the setlist so it is not the same night after night. It is also great to see his interaction with the fans.

We are now in the tail end of the thirteen-song set ,but they aren’t done yet. Daughtry takes the time here to speak to the audience and instruct them on the upcoming sing-along of “Over You.” If the crowd is tired, you cannot tell because they are screaming every lyric right along with him. It is hard to say, but this looks like one of the crowd’s favorite moments in this show. Unfortunately, the night is coming to an end, but there are still two more songs to go, and these were delivered with the same intensity that the rest of the show had. The lights come up, and no one really wants to go, but they are talking about how great this show was.

The concerts in Laughlin are getting bigger and bigger every year. They typically have a lot more country and seventies bands, but the success of this rock show proves to everyone that these events can be a huge success there as well. This crowd is definitely hoping for some more shows like this in the future, and they will be telling all their friends to go see Daughtry if they have the chance.
